Bring back Conservative Council Tax discipline

The election on May 7th is all about how much Council Tax you pay and how it will be spent over the next 4 years.  We, the Conservatives, do not take this responsibility lightly as we proved by keeping bills almost level before the Lib Dems took over running the council 8 years ago and raised them as much as they could every year.

 

8 years Consrvatives +3%  

8 years Lib Dems +39%

You may be able to pay your council tax with ease, but many, if not most, really struggle with surging bills.  I will commit as your Conservative councillor to keep bills down.

The Lib Dems, on the other hand, are suitably liberal with how they spend your money.

Take just one example which is totally within Lib Dem control.  Under the Conservatives councillor allowances fell 0.15% over 8 years.  Over the past 7 years the Lib Dems have raised them by 66%! 

Question:  Why when we have the same number of councillors.

Answer: 25 of 52 councillors are now paid "special allowances" (source Richmond upon Thames reports).
