6 billion people in the world - 74% - live in autocracies with no meaningful vote

Tomorrow's polling day,  On the 8th the residents of Twickenham Riverside ward will have the people and policies they voted for.

I hope passionately that I will be your Councillor, and that enough of my colleagues in the Conservative Party are also elected to form the ruling body within your Council.  My opponents no doubt feel the same.

I was lucky enough to be brought up at a time where political differences amongst friends was normal.  An excuse to open another bottle!  Within the last hour I've recieved good luck messages from friends of all political hues.  By chance, I've also just bumped into James Chard, my Lib Dem counterpart,  and had a lovely 10 minute conversation.  Why wouldn't we?  We live 5 minutes apart and both want the best for Twickenham even if we disagree what that might be!

Tomorrow's your turn.  Democracy is not a spectator sport.  We are all lucky to be part of it.

As a final postscript, thank you to the wonderful lady who raced out of her house on Sion Lane today to say she'd voted for me.  Her energy and sincerity encapsulated everything I've loved about the campaign.  Salut.

Well done to the Liberal Democrats. It is an outstanding achievement to win every seat on the Council.

Sadly not to be for the Conservatives this time.
